Casey’s Story

Chico native Casey Smyth—a devoted father, husband, realtor, multi-sport athlete, and Chico
State alum—recently survived a life-threatening infection that led to 11 surgeries and the
amputation of all four limbs. Through it all, Casey’s strength and spirit remain unshaken.
He now faces a long road of recovery, with extensive rehab, adaptive equipment and
ongoing medical needs.
